Season 3 episode 5 notes

  • Cecil heads back to the clubroom, but finds a group of Dueling Club students – led by Anna – chasing Louis. They plan to attack him for “harassing” the Princess, but Cecil talks them out of it.
  • Lloyd heads down for Special Training with Naimitsu. They go out on a boat, and Lloyd does balancing exercises on a buoy. An increasingly frustrated Naimitsu reveals that she’s been fighting with Mr. Yonaguni, and that everyone always expects her to solve their problems. She and Lloyd talk some about the burdens of being in charge. Naimitsu jumps in the water and swims to prove a point to Lloyd about how a good leader can also be a teacher. Lloyd taught her how to swim during the summer. Lloyd falls in the water as well.
  • Cecil meets Nina in the club room, and they talk some about the situation. Nina says she thinks they should take the fight to the Dueling Club, but Cecil objects.
  • Lloyd returns, soaking wet. The three talk. Lloyd tells Cecil and Nina they mean a lot to him.
  • Lloyd burns his old essay on leadership, and writes a new one of only two sentences: “Why I should be a leader: Because I have to.”
  • Everyone goes to bed.
  • They wake up to the sounds of André singing the fish delivery song. He’s delivered a fish to the new cafeteria staff in Mrs. Messerschmidt’s absence. Ryu has been up all night, chasing Storm Monkeys.
  • Cecil and Lloyd head to the cafeteria. Minami and Tomoe work in the kitchen. Tomoe spikes Cecil’s breakfast with an entire bowl of wasabi, but Cecil refuses to let his discomfort show.
  • Lloyd heads to strategy class and learns about shock troopers.
  • Cecil heads to martial arts class and meets Mr. Honecker, who commands everyone to work out and improve their strength. Cecil sasses Mr. Honecker and Nina picks a fight with him, but the situation is defused by Jacob. Mr. Honecker is furious with Jacob for being a wimpy mindbender, and class is dismissed.
  • Jacob feels very bad, and tells Cecil to tell Prof. Zweibrücken he won’t make it to Politics class.
  • Cecil and Nina go out to patrol the school grounds, in case the Dueling Club is up to shenanigans. Viktor goes with them.
  • Lloyd meets Alice on his way from Strategy class. They talk about the situation in Ritterburg and Lloyd learns that Akane is going there this afternoon to go shopping. Lloyd worries.
  • Ryu falls from the ceiling, chasing a Storm Monkey. Lloyd catches it on an updraft and Akane bats away the monkey and it flies out the window. Akane reveals that Naimitsu has a cold since yesterday, and won’t accompany her to Ritterburg. Akane says she can handle herself. Lloyd worries.
  • Cecil discovers that Günther and two goons are threatening Minami, telling her to take over all the kitchen duties for Tomoe. Tomoe is busy with Dueling Club stuff. Cecil and Viktor intervene, but then the falling Storm Monkey lands on Günther.
  • A short mysterious fight ensues. Minami punches Günther expertly, while the two goons attack each other for some reason. They claim someone used illusions to make the other look like Cecil. Cecil made no illusion; Minami claims she didn’t either.
  • Nina and Ryu arrive, and Günther and his goons take off, now outnumbered. Ryu takes care of the fourth Storm Monkey. Six are still on the loose.
  • Cecil and Lloyd head to Politics class and hand in their essays. They learn that the afternoon’s Storm Lore class is cancelled because Professor Anderson is mysteriously busy.
  • Politics class covers delegating tasks. It ends, and Cecil and Lloyd head down to lunch, preparing themselves for Bert’s trial later this afternoon.
